Responsibilities

  • DDB Vancouver is seeking a Freelance Back End Web Developer to join our award-winning agency. The position will involve working on a large number of projects for both big-name clients and smaller, fast-growing clients.
  • The Freelance Web Developer should have strong back end experience as well as ability to do some front end work. This role will be working with PHP via open source CMS tools including Drupal, Craft CMS, WordPress and custom framework-based applications written on Laravel.

Requirements

  • Experience with modern PHP development
  • Experience working with APIs from vendors or third-parties
  • Experience in DevOps:
    • LAMP/LEMP
    • Hosting & deployments (AWS) and network operations
  • Experience with templating frameworks (e.g. twig)
  • Experience with CSS3 and CSS3 preprocessors (e.g. Sass)
  • Experience with Javascript libraries, frameworks and bundlers (e.g. webpack)
  • Understanding of website optimization techniques and guidelines for fast page load times

  • Discover and articulate differentiating consumer insights and translate them into strategic and creative POVs and recommendations
  • Provide day-to-day support and assist in 1:1 strategic activities, including 1:1 best practices, analysis + reporting, brief writing, communications planning and content planning

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience as a Project Manager
  • A deep understanding of financials including estimating, BCR tracking and revenue projections
  • An understanding of agency disciplines
  • Creative problem solving and thinking outside the box to resolve project scheduling issues
  • Comfortable managing projects that range into the unknown and have never been tried
  • Excel at managing projects that involve making tradeoffs among competing objectives and alternatives
  • The drive to meet and exceed a client's project goal and expectations
  • Have the necessary “field presence” in order to demonstrate the judgement needed to see a project through creative development and craft and beyond
  • Always be on the lookout for the best creative alternatives and be able to support the team if the alternative leads to a new direction
